The Journal of Orofacial Innovation and Science (JOIS), to maintain autonomy and ensure editorial independence, chose not to seek public funding or run ads on the journal's website. Therefore, the model chosen to cover the expenses inherent to publications is the one in which the authors themselves contribute through the payment of a publication fee.

The initial submission of articles to JOIS has no cost to the author, only after the approval of the article will a publication fee of R$ 350.00 (three hundred and fifty reais) be charged for authors in Brazil and U$ 60.00 for international authors. The author must verify all the details before submission, as post-publication corrections will imply an additional fee of R$ 200.00 (two hundred reais) or U$ 35.00.
